Hillcrest Sandilands is an Ofsted registered children's home offering 52-week care and education placements to boys and girls aged between 12 - 17yrs. It is a large detached family home located in Croydon, Surrey.

Philosophy of care

Hillcrest Sandilands offers children the opportunity to experience group living in order for them to develop empathy and a sense of belonging. Working and playing in small groups enables the children to understand the importance of boundaries, structure and negotiation.

Hillcrest Sandilands provides a safe and nurturing environment in which children can explore their feelings and form appropriate attachments. The home is particularly successful in enabling children to return to fostercare or their own families.

Therapeutic care

Any therapeutic intervention is only undertaken after careful assessment by suitably qualified practitioners in consultation with all relevant professionals. Therapeutic support is provided by qualified practitioners and reinforces the Hillcrest philosophy of providing a more therapeutic approach to child care.

Education

Sandilands has close links with neighbouring EBD schools and mainstream colleges. Education is provided in a structured and caring environment and planned to meet both academic and pastoral needs of the young people.

Activities

Children enjoy activities such as go-karting, quad-biking, camping, bowling, holidays away and day trips to local centres and theme parks.

Wherever possible admissions to Sandilands should be planned and involve all family and professionals to ensure each placement has the best possible start. Emergency referrals can be considered in certain circumstances.
