By using experienced and qualified supervisory staff, Hillcrest ensures that children's care plans are both understood and promoted by foster carers. Social Workers receive monthly supervision and regular training.

Assessment of potential carers and the basic 4 day "Skills to Foster" training is carried out by Hillcrest staff so we see carers through each stage of the approval process.

We feel this is preferable to "out-sourcing" these functions as it gives us a good knowledge of carers' strengths and any areas for further development.

Thereafter, Hillcrest staff provide support with at least three-weekly visits and regular phone calls as well as a 24 hour support service provided by the carers' own worker. Carers are entitled to two weeks paid respite per year; we also offer support to birth children and run social events for carers and their families.

Staff ensure that foster carers offer a professional service, by keeping daily written records and contributing to reviews and care planning, as well as working with local authority social workers to achieve good outcomes for children.

Hillcrest Fostercare closely monitors quality in line with national standards, ensuring detailed, thorough annual reviews and annual unannounced inspections. Carers are approved by our panel and return at regular intervals to ensure ongoing quality assurance.

Hillcrest Fostercare achieved overall outstanding in our most recent Ofsted Report. To read further details  please click here
