Dorset
Hillcrest Dorset is a supported living service providing 24-hour support to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs. Each individual service is modelled on person-centred planning and support.
Our vision of person-centred support is to start with the person and build the service around their needs, with complete user participation at all stages.
Focus is given to enabling our clients to lead fulfilling and enriched lives, and to participate as valued members of their local and extended communities.
We do not focus on disability and risk, but rather on the skills and aspirations of our clients. We seek to put required support in place to enable our clients to access opportunities, resources and facilities; through working collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to access and facilitate whatever support is needed.
The service is primarily aimed at people aged 18 to 65 with learning disabilities. Should clients be living in their own homes when referred, the service will seek to enhance their inclusion within their community. If clients are preparing to move into their own accommodation from another provision, Hillcrest will provide support in co-ordinating and planning the transition in collaboration with the current care-provider, and in accordance with the client’s needs and wishes, and those of their family. Support is available in accessing all relevant benefits and services available to the person.

Values and Principles
We aim to work with people, their families and professionals within a framework of anti-discriminatory practice and in such a way as to promote each person’s individual value.
We are committed to:
- actively promoting each person’s participation in an ordinary lifestyle
- supporting people to access community facilities
- having positive expectations by stressing each person’s achievements; and strengths without losing sight of their disability and individual needs
At Hillcrest we aim to exceed any minimum standards laid down by legislation and will work to commonly accepted standards of good practice. We adhere to O’Brien’s Five Accomplishments through person centred planning approaches to support planning and evaluation and review of individual needs, wishes and aspirations.
Our Services
Hillcrest Supported Living Service is a needs based service with an excellent reputation for being flexible, innovative and pro-active.
