Ahoy There!

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Listen up me hearties!

All in aid of Comic Relief, boy’s and staff from Hillcrest Pentwyn dressed as seafaring marauders and set sail upon a day full of pirate adventures!

Wellywanging, uphill sack racing and assault course running antics all fuelled by a great buffet provided by Rose and Sally in the galley.

Another staff member was sponsored to dye his hair RED, (but it came out PINK!) all for a good cause though!

The weather was glorious; everyone enjoyed themselves and completed the activities with enthusiasm and a great sense of fun.

The whole day was a complete success and we even raised a whopping £175.00 for charity.

Poppy’s Battle Front Games

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

At Hillcrest Poppy Lodge we save a little of our activity money each week and then with all the saved money, we decide what we want to do as a group.
This month we thought about paintballing, but then about the pain!! So, we opted for battle front games, a cross between laser quest and paintballing but without the pain!
We looked it up on the internet and it was a minimum of 12 players, but as there are only 7 of us so we decided to invite the boys from our nearby home- Hayling Island.
What could be better than running around in the woods with big laser guns shooting the boys and staff from Hayling Island home?!?

We phoned them up and they were well up for it!
On arrival we were given our camouflage gear and had our face painted (in camouflage not animals) We got given our rather large laser guns, then it was briefing and a tactics talk followed by game on! We played various games, it was brilliant! Before we knew it, it was time to pack up.

All we could do was speak about our day for the whole of the week , we can’t wait to do it again.
We all had a great time and it was nice to share it with the other home too.

The girls at Oaklands had a great time on this years Red Nose Day!
We managed to raised £220 by doing various beauty treatments, making and selling cakes and face painting.
Everyone dressed up in their pyjamas for the day, and a great time was had by all!
