Introduction of BTEC Qualifications

23/07/09

At Slinfold College new workshops have been set up where the students learn construction skills including painting & decorating, mechanics, bricklaying and carpentry & joinery. As well as developing these skills the students have made items for both themselves and the school including garden swings, chairs, tables, brick planters, benches and even chicken coops.

The two sport & recreation BTEC qualifications - Investigating Sport & Recreation and Sport & Recreation Practice have developed the students coaching and participation skills and provided opportunities to try a range of sporting activities.

The horticulture and catering qualifications have provided excellent opportunities for the students to experience the delights of cooking and eating produce that they have grown and nurtured from seed, as well as gaining an understanding of recycling and composting, healthy eating, experimental and creative cookery.
