Therapeutic Provisions
Psychological Services
Any therapeutic intervention is only undertaken after careful assessment by suitably qualified practitioners in consultation with all relevant professionals and is inclusive to all care packages. Every child placed with Hillcrest is offered the opportunity of a detailed assessment by a Clinical Psychologist. The benefits this assessment brings, allow Hillcrest staff insight into how best to look after the child. The assessment forms part of the child's care plan and follow up work, based on the assessment, is built into the care plan, with regular progress reports sent to the child's social worker.
Hillcrest have access to Clinical Psychologists who can provide clinical assessments, intervention programmes, court reports and individual counselling sessions as well as staff support and behaviour management advice. We also employ the service of registered Educational Psychologists.
Therapeutic provision in each home is provided by qualified practitioners and Hillcrest currently offers counselling (drug & alcohol support and emotional support), Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Music Interaction Therapy and Equine Assisted Therapy.
Assessments
All care packages include a comprehensive initial assessment. Where appropriate, this will include a Clinical Psychologist and/or Educational Psychologist report. Each Hillcrest home is happy to provide assessment reports for panel funding, and can undertake family work in order to prepare a young person for transition to foster care, or a return to a family setting.
